COLLEGE RAPTOR

May- August 2019

Over the summer of 2019, I served as a Marketing Research Intern at College Raptor, a company focused on helping parents, guardians, and kids through the college process. My main goal for the summer was to help make financing college easier by suggesting updates to the company's financial assistance features. The main problem with the features ended up being the assumption that students were financially literate, leading to features not being fully accessible if people didn't know the definition of a financial term.


As the summer progressed, much of my job involved extensive research, content audits, and competitive analyses to find areas of improvement in the company's existing products. While compiling the research, I regularly broke down financial terms and complex fine print into digestible, one-sentence summaries. The research also helped me make recommendations to the Head UX Designer on the layouts of new features, which I designed preliminary mocks for using Adobe XD.

Additionally, College Raptor releases yearly competitive rankings, including hundreds of colleges across America. As an intern at the company, I got the opportunity to collaborate with College Raptor's editor in researching, editing, and writing summaries for 100+ colleges. Our overall goal was to engage the readers in the hope that they would click the college headings to learn more about the school, thus using our website’s tools to see if the school matched their backgrounds. I completed writing for the introduction paragraphs collaboratively, discussing my work with head editors in order to maintain a uniform voice. For a writing sample, tap the button below.
