OPEN CEILINGS MAGAZINE (MECHANISM PRESS)

January-May 2020

While serving as Publicity Director for Open Ceilingsthe main goal was to boost the publicity of the new organization, which had only just released its first edition at the time.   


My largest project as Publicity Director was designing and writing copy for Open Ceiling's official website. When I joined, our only website was through the English Department at UC Davis.  My main goal was making sure the guidelines were easy to understand and that creators knew their next steps without having to scroll endlessly for details.

A portion of my work involved creating marketing campaigns and social media posts to increase followers and submissions for both current and future editions of the magazine.


During my time as Publicity Director, Open Ceilings gained 200+ followers and 100+ more submissions than the previous cycle of the magazine. Much of my work involved increasing student interest in our magazine virtually since COVID-19 prevented us from hosting events on campus.
